I think Og Mandino is trying to say that in order for anyone to succeed than we all have to persistence in order to succeed. If you don't have persistence and just give up then you wont succeed on the goals that you have. For example if you wanted to get straight A's in all of your classes then you would need persistence in order to succeed and get straight A's but if you gave ip and didn't try then you wouldn't get any A's just giving up that is why you need persistence to succeed.
