I think this qoute means that you should always do the right and not choose the wrong. Choosing the right will help you out in life. If you were to have homework for school the right thing would to do your homework. Doing things like this will make our future better.If you choose the wrong that won't help you out in life but if you choose the right that is what's going to help you out in life.
