I think Joseph B. Wirthlin is trying to say that kindness is the way to greatness. Showing kindness to other people is how you can show you have greatness. Kindness is a way for people to know if you are a great person or not. If someone were to drop supplies and you helped them out that would show that you are a kind and great person.
