Optical Laboratory Technician

Duties and Responsibilities: Create contact lenses and prescription eyeglasses. They work very closely optometrists, opticians, and ophthalmologists. On the job training is common in the industry. Voluntary certification is available and recommended to optical lab technicians.

Salary: $28,590

Education: many optical lab technicians have to earn their high school diploma or GED and then develop their skills while working in the field. New optical lab technicians start as assistants and work with experienced technician until they are experienced enough to work by themselves.
